Last SAP Fiori Road Map for 2015

Last SAP Fiori Road Map for 2015

I just went through the 116 pages (!) long Road Map document from SAP. The first thing that is apparent is that they are committed. The document is not only longer by 30 pages then in November but also very well illustrated and precisely documented, there is purpose in this work no doubt.

I won’t go through the details I find them tedious and you can always refer to the document for more information. What did attract my attention are the following new developments and there are plenty :

  • New Fiori Design, objectively, if I can manage it, I think it looks pretty good and stresses the integration between User, Data and Collaborators in order to facilitate action : (1) Me Area, (2) Workspace, (3) Notifications, (4) Overview Page, (5) Object Page, (6) Co-Pilot
  • Front-end server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform –> Confirms HCP if need be ( see my last July Blog on this )
  • Use HCP to build SAP Fiori apps extending SAP S/4HANA –> S/4HANA gets its layer of Fiori
  • SAP Fiori launchpad as single point of entry –> It has been said before ( since Teched 2014 ) but nice to here again, and that mean all SAP solutions will run Fiori.
  • Smart Templates : Improvements and further capabilities –> Should ease development of Fiori Apps
  • Simplified app extensibility concept based on SAPUI5 flexibility services –> Another (non development) way aimed at Business Users to allow for quick changes in Fiori Apps like moving or removing fields for instance.
  • HANA Cloud Platform: Support for non SAP Fiori apps (e.g. SAP GUI and Web Dynpro ABAP) –> Well that is interesting, SAP is giving some space for existing non Fiori Apps, very thoughtful of them
  • SAP Portal: Integration of search, factsheets & analytical SAP Fiori apps –> Less surprising and certainly needed
  • Plenty of improvements to the SAP Fiori Cloud edition, looks like it will integrate with all SAP solutions, also will be able to run non Fiori Apps.
  • From about page 40 to page 91 its all about improvements to the various LoB standard Apps. A couple of months ago there were about 590, today we have 760 !
  • Starting page 92 we get an overview of SAP Fiori in the context of the new(ish) SAP Solutions such as Successfactors, Fieldglass, Ariba, etc …
  • Successfactors & C4C ( Cloud for Customer ) : gets a new home page based on SAP Fiori, it does look a lot like the standard SAP Fiori Launchpad. Also S/4HANA and Suite tiles can be added to the SuccessFactor’s homepage.
  • Successfactors : SAP Fiori is used to create new or renew existing products:

    • People Profile V3

    • Employee Central

    • Admin Center

    • Onboarding

  • Lots of new Apps for C4C ( Cloud for Customer )
  • Fieldglass and Ariba get SAP Fiori Harmonised ( Or Fiorised if you prefer )
  • Plenty of IoT Improvements in these areas : (1) Alarm and machine list with quick filtering, (2) Powerful Device Health Analytic, (3) Analyze and predict ( KPI dashboards, Machine fingerprint, Vibration analysis, Predict and detect new patterns ), (4) Visualize machine KPIs and drill-downs, (5) Map device locations
  • SAP Asset Intelligence Network (on HANA Cloud Platform) –> A very interesting Platform : “A cross industry network that brings together the manufacturers, services providers and operators of the worlds industrial assets tomaximize value, improve efficiency and deliver new business models
  • SAP Networked Logistics Hub (on HANA Cloud Platform) –> A business network fo
  • r collaboration in logistics
